Henri Colt
I am an American/French physician, Emeritus Professor of Pulmonary/Critical Care-University of California, a medical ethicist, writer, and APPA Certified Affiliate. My interests in philosophy and psychology, which took root when I was a teenager, have strengthened through life experiences and my activities working, lecturing, traveling, or teaching in diverse cultural environments around the world. Philosophy, I believe, provides a workshop for thinking and rational inquiry. Our philosophies of life, therefore, may change depending on our depth of understanding and personal growth. They may serve as anchors for specific behaviors or particular perspectives used to approach life’s challenges, adventures, and rewards, and for these reasons, may even change according to circumstances, priorities, or one’s personal inclinations. My aim as a philosophical practitioner is not to medicalize our encounters, nor to provide answers or solutions, but to help clients explore philosophical traditions that might help them address human problems with greater awareness.
