Shahin Kaveh
Hello! My name is Shahin Kaveh, and that’s my cat Dio. I have a B.Sc. in theoretical physics from Sharif University in Tehran, Iran where I also studied psychology extensively. I have Master’s degrees in philosophy from Texas Tech University (focused on Ethics and Aesthetics, resulting in an Ethics Certificate) and Johns Hopkins University (focused on systems of thought), as well as a PhD in History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Pittsburgh.
I have founded several university organizations specifically aimed at bringing people together for civil disagreement, where I helped people practice one thing: perceiving contradictory information as a thrill, rather than a threat. I have a knack for making people comfortable with exploring ideas freely. Beyond academia, I founded Philosophy Therapy to apply my skills to people’s real-life issues.
There are a lot of great therapy methods out there, but one is particularly underrated, and that’s the original therapy: philosophy! I started this practice to fill this gap in contemporary society. Nothing against other methods of therapy or even medication, but I firmly believe many people would benefit from employing the helpful distinctions that philosophers have invented over the centuries to improve their lives.
